I was sitting in my home when my spouse(petitioner) and my mother-in law (party of the petitioner) came over with a thick stack of papers.  At the time did not know why they where her other then to see our baby.  My spouse is in the army and has been deployed, but was allowed to come home to serve me divorce papers.  Well, they both came in, talk for a spell and them left.  After they had gone down the steps i noticed the stack of papers on the table.  I picked them up and ran out the door saying, " you forgot you papers", still not knowing what they where cause i did not look at them.  They answered back, "there yours to keep".  That's when i stated to look them over.

My question is:  Was the way they served me legal?  Can my spouse and mother-in-law who is paying for the attorney and has signed a deceleration in behalf of the petitioner serve me together?
And if not, what can i do about it?

Thank you
