the time required is 90 days in all counties and there are no exceptions, at all. I have practiced family law for 9 years and never heard of one.  A legal separation can happen right away.  Also, it is 90 from the DATE OF SERVICE of the summons and petition for divorce/dissolution.  Service of process normally occurs at that time that the other party is directly handed the docs. or when they are dropped off at their house (note this is not a full explanation of service of process)

NOTE: if she contests (or he) in many counties such as king, pierce and snohomish counties, you can not get into court for TRIAL for much longer than 90 days.  In king county everyone gets a case schedule that puts it out 11 months.  but if you can reach agreement it can be over in 90 days.
