what happen to my divorce
QuoteReply
Hi,
I wanted to ask:
I filed for divorce in Washington state, Seattle in June 2007 and send my ex wife a copy of the papers as asked by the court system. Then after many difficulties finding work, staying focus and having emotional problems, I did not followed the requirements the court system asked. I had to move to another country Where I found stable work and I could become a normal person and get over my emotional problems. What happens now to my filed divorce case since I did not followed thru?
Ps: out the marriage one child was born, she is now 16yo. I live in another country now.

Thanks,

Enrique

You are screwed. And the time and energy spent on the first filing you did we're wasted. As to your postscript, your back child-support will be a post-mortem when they find you.

PS, and they will find you if you come back into the US. As technology progresses, and databases become more inter-linked, the previous dealings you had here and with her (including your photo, driver's license info., facial characteristics in your driver's photo, or any other information she can obtain prior to the child reaching 25 years old) ...and any other information she can obtain about you.... will provide more than enough to track you down should you ever come back to the US and attempt to have any semblence of a normal life.  She also can take steps to .... well at any rate.. you did not even both to mention where and who the child is with, but the "ps" nature of your afterthought gives me an idea.  Please understand that posting on this board does NOT entitle you to attorney client confidntiality although i normally decide to respect strongly the privacy of those who post.  However, nonsupport of children has degrees and can be a crime : and not a metaphorical one either. Your ip address email, and numerous other bits of information will be guarded by me (by choice) but such information could be subpoened.
