When children are over 15 can they decide who has custody of them?

the guardian ad litem (the social worker or attorney appointed by the court to investigate and make recomendations to the court as to the placement of the children) WILL SPEAK WITH THE CHILD and at that time he surely will broadcase his or her sentiments regarding custody.

the local rules in king county state: "...child declarations are disfavored...".  When I have seen them used it has been to the disadvantage of the party submitting them because it shows invovlement of the children in the proceedings themselves which is normally not in their best interest.

also, children do not always want what is best for them.
