modification of child support
QuoteReply
Last year my ex-husband filed to have our child support order modified.  Our oldest son turned 18.  My younger son is 11 and will soon be 12 in September.  He was awarded by the court the requirement to pay a reduced child support due to having another child in his second marriage.  He also received the 11 year old as a tax exemption every other year.  My question to you is:  Can I file to have the child support modified now that my child will turn 12 in September, and can I request to have him as a tax exemption every year if the support is reduced again due to his having another child.  I didn't understand how this worked the first time - and as both of us are now out of the state, neither of us were actually in court while this was all being argued.  I want to know if it is even worth bothering at this point (and $3,000 legal fees later).  Thanks for any advice you can offer.
