there is a ceiling on child support.

if the income goes above 7k the support will hit a ceiling. child support is for the childs basic needs, not to enrich the other parent.

when are they going to change the child support levels? i heard that high income obligors were going to have to pay more soon?  is that correct, possible?

I don't believe the legislature has it on it's agenda to make a special change for high-earners....at least i have not heard anything... if anyone else has info. please post it!!!

i think it would be a bad idea because the purpose/policy of support might start to slide towards enriching the custodial parent....bad idea, you may have philosophical reasons for not wanting your spouse to buy your child absolutely every toy in sight.  Or, alternatively the spouse who receives it might be disciplined in raising the child with only what's necessary.....so he/she ends up spending the money on themself....no..

the purpose of child support is to meet the basic necessities, spousal maintenance/alimony is for the standard of living of the other party...
