Temporary Order of Child Support
QuoteReply
I am hopefully looking to file in the next week and a half, my husband is taking steps to stop all access to anything financial. So my question is with my petition if I put in a temporary order of child support how long does it usually take for that to come into play?

Thanks!

what i think you are hoping is that the court will automatically order him to pay support and it won't.  again it won't do that without you actually setting a court hearing.  yes, you can ask for support and temporary support in your petition.  but you must file a Note for Motion with the clerks office on the 6th floor of the courthouse (2nd floor if you are in the Kent courthouse district).  that Note for Motion must be delivered to him at least 14 days prior to your hearing.  you should also read the Local Family Court rules which list the documents that you MUST submit such as paystubs and bank statements. more in a second..... look at next post

...continued from last post.  it is really not THAT hard to do it.  also about him taking away access to finances, you can ask in a Motion and declaration for Temporary Order, that such accounts be frozen and that he not dissipate assets.

another option which is free is to ask DSHS (division of child support) to commence an action for child support but it will take longer and any administrative order fromt the Washington state division of child support may be reviewed in superior court.  also

it will take a good bit longer without question. also so you don't forget: remmeber that above there are different notes for motion for both kent and seattle courthouses.  if you are south of i-90 freeway you are supposed to file in kent, if you are to the north you file your actions at the seattle courthosue
